Paediatric & Adolescent Speech Pathology

We assess and treat difficulties across the following domains:

Speech sound production (articulation and phonology)

Expressive language (syntax, morphology, vocabulary, narrative)

Receptive language (auditory comprehension, following instructions)

Phonological awareness and early literacy foundations

Reading, spelling and written language (primary and secondary school–aged students)

Fluency disorders, including stuttering

Social communication and pragmatic language, as part of a broader speech and/or language disorder

Intervention is individualised and aligned with functional goals relevant to the child or young person’s home, educational and community environments.

We provide early intervention for children presenting with:

Delayed expressive and/or receptive language development

Reduced speech intelligibility

Limited functional communication

Difficulties with play, interaction and early social communication

Intervention focuses on foundational communication, play, joint attention and early language development, with active involvement of parents and caregivers to support carryover into daily routines.

We support school-aged children whose communication difficulties impact:

Classroom learning and curriculum access

Literacy development

Peer relationships and social participation

Therapy targets functional language, speech clarity, literacy-related skills and social communication, with goals designed to support educational participation.

We work with adolescents who present with:

Ongoing language and literacy difficulties

Challenges with abstract language, inference and complex discourse

Difficulties organising spoken or written language

Social communication vulnerabilities

Reduced confidence and self-advocacy skills

Intervention is collaborative, respectful and age-appropriate, with a focus on functional communication demands related to secondary education, social participation and transition planning.
